Our third annual summer road trip! As per usual the foundation of the trip was destination mountain biking. This year we decided to check out the mountain bike scene in northern California. Hitting several of the classic areas including the Lost Sierra, Downieville, and Lake Tahoe. Non biking highlights included exploring the rocky beaches and coves of northern California, Red Wood National Forest and Emerald Bay in Tahoe. We also made it up to the Rogue Valley of Ashland, OR to visit friends and spend several days biking the unbelievable trail network of Mt. Ashland.
Kristin and I by the end of the trip biked over 400 miles of world class singletrack. Downhill ! was defiantly the name of the game, as rides averaged over 5k descent. We totaled just shy of 100,000’ of vertical descent for the trip. I published route descriptions for several of our favorite rides on Trailforks. Links to the routes can be found at the end of the post… The Cant Miss rides if ever in the area!
Our traveling boys were rock stars on this trip! They get easier every year! Its fun watching their interests change each year on these trips….Soon family MTB rides :)
This cute campground had a movie night on saturdays. Boys hung out while the ladies finished an epic Downieville ride,,, in the dark and the fellas cooked dinner waiting patiently for their return
