Mt. Eva - Southeast Face

Front Range - CO

Pt. 13,130'

Southeast Face

Dave and I set out from Rainbow Road to ski Mt. Eva followed by the option of climbing and skiing Witter Peak's Welcome Couloir if temps and weather allowed.  The temps cooperated as we found firm and nice ski conditions above 11500'.  However the weather was not cooperating, we ended up hiding out in an old radio communications tower on Mt. Eva's summit, hoping for a break in the weather.  Visibility returned briefly to allow for a great decent off Eva's Southeast face, however the Welcome Col had to wait for another day.

After gaining Eva's Southwest ridge we were hammered by consistent 50 mph winds,  fortunately there was an old abandoned yet open radio communication building.  We joined Robby (a spit-boarder who came up Colorado Mine's Pk from Berthoud Pass) in the building hoping for less wind, better wind and no lightening :)  After about 40 minutes or so we all started to get cold, and noticed a small break in the clouds and decided it was time to ski off Eva.  Robby went down the west slopes between Eva and Parry back down to Berthoud.
